I was tardy in supplying the following short poem to a Macmillan poetry anthology called “Spirit Feathers”, in aid of Cancer research.

I should love the little sun

That turns and burns within;

If only it would scorch itself

A reflection in my skin.

Though it often seems to dim–

(A darkly shutting eye)

The reflection is not needed for

The little sun shan’t die.

With her permission, I dedicate “Hope Light” to Lucy Cannon.
